Race Discrimination Alleged Against Boeing

In the fall of 2019, four black employees filed a race discrimination lawsuit against Boeing, alleging discrimination at Boeing’s facility in North Charleston, South Carolina. One employee alleges that he was required to train “lesser qualified” and “better paid” workers who are white and that he was not paid the same as his similarly situated white co-workers. Another employee claims he was demoted to a worse shift after having a workers’ compensation claim and that only black employees were moved to a worse shift, not white employees. He also claims that black employees have not been given opportunities for lead position roles.

A third employee alleges that a manager showed racial favoritism toward white employees by placing black employees in the paint shop building, which the employee alleges was dirty and hazardous. The fourth employee to the lawsuit alleged similar complaints against the same manager and also alleged that the manager delayed his promotion for an extended period of time, while at the same time allowing white employees to receive promotions over him.

Boeing is a global company and has a facility located in Portland, Oregon.
