Nearly 100 Women File Gender Discrimination Suit Against Walmart

Nearly 100 women have joined in a class-action lawsuit against Walmart alleging gender discrimination. Walmart, which is the United States’ largest employer, is alleged by the women to have a history of abuse and discrimination. The women allege that Walmart has a systemic history of withholding raises and promotions for female employees. Some of the allegations date all the way back to the 1990s and early 2000s.

This is not the first time that Walmart has been accused of gender discrimination. In 2001, a female employee brought forward a class action lawsuit. The case went on for ten years and went all the way to the Supreme Court before it was dismissed for being too expansive.

The present lawsuit is being brought by employees from Florida. Former and current female employees in other states are considering filing lawsuits as well.
